After surviving an initial round of cuts in February the Country Buffet restaurant in Arvada and several other cities abruptly closed this week.
In a statement, Buffets, LLC, which operates the chain and several others, said it plans to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy so it can restructure its debts, liabilities. It also planned to close certain weaker restaurants.
Last month, the company closed 3 of 9 Colorado locations. The closure of the Arvada location ( 5220 Wadsworth Bypass), the Westminster location, ( 8685 Sheridan Blvd) the Englewood location ( 301 Englewood Parkway) and the Pueblo location (3020 Hart Road) brings the total number of closures to 7. There are now just 2 locations left in the state.

“Buffets, LLC, was acquired by merger in August of 2015. The Chapter 11 filing is prompted by the discovery of liabilities, or alleged liabilities, that we believe were not disclosed in our negotiations,” said Peter Donbavand, Vice President for Business Development for Food Management Partners. “We intend to investigate the propriety of the disclosures, and intend to consult with our counsel regarding any remedies we may have.”
74 underperforming Old Country Buffet, Hometown Buffet, Ryan’s, Fire Mountain and Country Buffet restaurants throughout the United States closed permanently on February 4.
