GOLDEN, Colo. — A Coors family project remaking part of downtown Golden is officially underway.
The project, called Clayworks, is the redevelopment of five city blocks owned by the Coors family. The 12.4-acre site at 500 9th St. will eventually include 1.2 million square feet of residential, retail, hotel and office space.
Golden-based AC Development broke ground on the first phase of Clayworks this week.
“The opportunity to reknit this really sort of industrial super-block back into the surrounding city — bringing streets and sidewalks through, bringing people here to live, work, stay, eat — will make it a really integral part of downtown,” said Dan Cohen, president of AC Development. “It will enhance and extend the experience of what’s already an amazing and beautiful place in downtown Golden.”
