DENVER BUSINESS JOURNAL — Highlands Ranch is No. 8 and Broomfield is No. 18 on a new ranking of the "Best Places to live in America" by Money magazine and Realtor.com.
This year's rankings look at communities with at least 50,000 residents and eliminate places that had the following: more than double the national crime risk, less than 85 percent of its state's median household income and a lack of ethnic diversity. A total of 583 locales were considered.
The rankings focused on a place's economic health, cost of living, diversity, public education, income, crime, ease of living and amenities, assigning the greatest weight to economic health, public school performance and local amenities. Reporters from Money also visited each spot to interview residents and check out neighborhoods. The list was limited to no more than two places per state and one per county.
