DENVER — Daniels Fund President and CEO Linda Childears will retire April 30 after leading the charitable foundation for 15 years, the organization announced today.
"It has been the honor of a lifetime to guide the Daniels Fund," Childears said in the announcement. "Bill Daniels was one of the finest individuals this country has ever produced, and I know that he would be incredibly proud of the foundation that is his legacy. The Daniels Fund has never been stronger, and after considerable deliberation I have decided that now is the right time for me to retire."

Childears became president and CEO of cable magnate Bill Daniels' $1.5 billion legacy foundation in 2005. Since then, she's led the organization in building a framework from which to support Daniels' mission, awarding about 250 scholarships each year.
The private foundation, which started with a $1 billion endowment in 2000, has since granted nearly $900 million to both students and entities in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming, according to the organization.
