COLORADO, USA — American Freight, a furniture and appliance store, is shuttering all of its locations nationwide, including four locations in Colorado, after its parent company filed for bankruptcy.
On Nov. 3, American Freight's parent company Franchise Group, Inc. announced plans to close all 328 locations after beginning Chapter 11 proceedings in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Delaware. It's part of a larger restructuring agreement, where Franchise Group said it will focus on keep its leading businesses open, including Pet Supplies Plus, The Vitamin Shoppe and Buddy's Home Furnishings.
Franchise Group cited "sustained inflation and macroeconomic challenges facing the large durable goods sector" as reasons to shut down all American Freight locations.
Each American Freight location began a nationwide going-out-of-business sale last week, according to a Nov. 6 news release.

American Freight's closing sale offers shoppers up to 30% off storewide on living room sets, dining tables, bedroom furniture and appliances like refrigerators, washers and dryers.
The store announced that new inventory is on its way and expected to move quickly. The discounts are available both in store and online, and all sales are final.
"Everything is on sale and must be sold, and we recommend shopping early for the best selection," said Ian Fredericks, CEO of Hilco Consumer-Retail, in the release.
