Ball Corp. is expanding its Aerospace Manufacturing Center in Westminster.
In a Thursday groundbreaking, officials at Colorado-based Ball (NYSE: BLL) and state officials celebrated the planned 145,000-square-foot expansion that's expected to be completed in spring 2019.
Ball said the original facility, which includes design facilities, product manufacturing, test ranges and administrative space, was built in the 1980s and was expanded by 60,000 square feet in 2006.
The company said the expansion was necessary "in order to keep pace with projected growth and meet the needs of the customers we serve every day," said John Hayes, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Ball Corp., in a statement.
