As three more Colorado ski resorts prepare to open, people in downtown Denver are preparing one of the biggest snow sports expos in the state.
The 26th annual Colorado Ski and Snowboard Expo is happening this weekend at the Colorado Convention Center.
The three-day expo includes a large selection of gear at discounted prices, some items from last season will be up to 60 percent off.
"The timing is right, we are getting into colder weather now, our resorts are opening this weekend. I think everyone is really getting that itch if they haven't already bought their gear now is that time," said Aubrey Neis, the senior promotions manager for Colorado Ski and Golf, one of the larger vendors at the expo.
The shop will have a special deal on children's gear through its Junior Trade Program, which is a package that helps get children started in the sport with skis or a snowboard, boots and bindings.
Parents can then trade in gear next season for half the price.
Visitors can also expect to see deals on outerwear, clothing, lift tickets, passes and lesson packages at the event - as they have in the past ski and snow expo events.
Classic activities and entertainment like the trampoline, climbing wall, mechanical bull, and children's demo and activity areas are ready to go.
But this year, there a few new things to watch out for.
A new "first-timers" center will be set up for people who are new to Colorado, or new to skiing or snowboarding.
International resorts are also taking part in the expo this year, for the first time.
The expo begins at noon Friday at the Colorado Convention Center downtown, on the same day Breckenridge, Keystone, and Copper Mountain resorts all open for the season.
"I think, you know, weather drives a lot of excitement so people are just ready to go. They want to get that new gear they want to get on the slopes and this is the place to do it," said Neis.
