ERIE, Colo. — A zombie movie has begun filming in northern Colorado.

The small-budget horror-comedy film "Eerie Town" is shooting in Erie, just north of the Denver metro area.

The Town of Erie said the film's producer Thundergate Entertainment completed the town's approval process for filming. The movie production will close the streets of downtown Erie on Friday and Saturday.

Filming is scheduled to take place Friday from 7 p.m. to midnight, and Saturday from 9 p.m. to Sunday at 5 a.m.

Briggs Street, between Wells Street and Balcolm Street, will be closed during filming. The alleyways between Wells Street and Moffat Street will also be closed.

The Town of Erie said noise complaints outside of the designated filming times can be reported to dispatch at 303-441-4444.

The movie's official website description of "Eerie Town" reads: "Jessie Bridges returns home from big city life in hopes of reclaiming the old love of his life. Unfortunately, he returns on the eve of a vampire hunt gone wrong, and he and his friends must survive a zombie hoard... and maybe get a first date out of it."

Earlier this week, the movie's Facebook page put out an opening casting call for extras to play zombies in a scene to be filmed Saturday. In a video posted Thursday, Michael Freeman, the film's director, said they received more than 400 emails asking to join the film shoot. Freeman said the film's email was overloaded with requests and has been temporarily stopped by Google. Those who are selected to be zombie extras will be contacted by the film's crew.

Freeman said "Eerie Town" has been filming in Colorado for "a few weeks." The film has launched a GoFundMe page to help pay for items such as production insurance, makeup, props, food and special effects.
