FORT COLLINS, Colo. — A Colorado high school theater production has received a shoutout from a Hollywood star.
Poudre High School's theater team shared a video message from "Mean Girls" creator Tina Fey ahead of its upcoming musical production.
In the video, the former "Saturday Night Live" star says she is honored the Fort Collins high school is doing a production of her show this fall.
"Hi everyone at Poudre High School, this is Tina Fey and I wanted to say hello and break a leg in November when you do 'Mean Girls,'" Fey said. "I'm so honored you're doing the show, I hope you have so much fun.
"Just remember to do your scene changes really fast and really tight, because that makes or breaks a high school show – trust me. So happy to hear you're doing the show and enjoy!"
Based on Fey's 2004 teen comedy film "Mean Girls," the musical stage version of "Mean Girls" launched on Broadway in 2017 and continued through 2020. The musical has toured the country, including a stop in Denver last year.
A film version of the musical is in production and planned for release in January 2024.
Fey and "Mean Girls" co-star Amy Poehler were in Colorado on Oct. 1 for a comedy tour stop at Denver's Bellco Theatre.
