Winter ice skating returns to Denver

Ice skating is back at downtown Denver's Skyline Park. The public can bring their own ice skates for free or rent skates at the rink.

DENVER — Downtown Denver's ice skating rink is back for a 14th year.

The Downtown Denver Rink will provide free skating in Skyline Park at 16th and Arapahoe streets through Feb. 2.

Throughout the season, skating is free, with skate rentals available for $9 for kids 12 and under and $12 for adults.

Downtown Denver Partnership said the opening of the rink kicks off "Winter in the City" holiday season festivities that include the 9NEWS Parade of Lights on Saturday, Dec. 7, and the Mile High Tree at Civic Center Park.

“Winter in the City is a fantastic opportunity to gather with your friends and family in Downtown Denver and enjoy all the sights, sounds, and experiences our city has to offer,” said Downtown Denver Partnership President and CEO Kourtny Garrett. “From the Downtown Denver Rink to the 9NEWS Parade of Lights and much more, our downtown is poised for the best winter season yet.”

“Winter in downtown Denver is such a magical time!” said Sharon Alton, Senior Vice President of Downtown Experience at the Partnership. “Our signature events are a beloved annual tradition and we can’t wait to invite our community back to downtown once again for the holiday season.”
