ESTES PARK, Colo. — Do you plan to visit Rocky Mountain National Park this summer?
Timed-entry reservations will be required at the park in 2024, beginning May 24, on a first-come, first-served basis.
This summer's timed-entry reservations will be split into five windows. The first round of reservations to enter the Colorado park from May 24 through June 30 has opened through the park's online portal.
In addition to the online portal, reservations can be booked by calling 877-444-6777.
The National Park Service said timed-entry reservations are not available in person at Rocky Mountain National Park's entrance stations or visitor centers.
2024 RMNP timed-entry permit reservation windows
- On June 1, reservations open for July and any remaining days that have not been booked for June.
- On July 1, reservations open for August and any remaining days that have not been booked for July.
- On Aug. 1, reservations open for September and any remaining days in August that have not been booked.
- On Sept. 1, reservations open for October and any remaining days in September that have not been booked.
The National Park Service said its 2024 timed-entry system will be different from past years:
- Timed-entry permit reservations for most areas of the park will be in place through Oct. 14.
- Timed-entry + Bear Lake Road Road permits will continue through Oct. 20.
- 40% of timed-entry permits are released on Recreation.gov the night before a chosen arrival date. These timed entry permits will be available each day beginning at 7 p.m. MT.
Rocky Mountain National Park is one of the most visited national parks. Even with a vehicle reservation timed entry system in 2023, the park received some of the highest visitation in its history.
