'Film on the Rocks': Summer movies are back at Red Rocks

The Red Rocks outdoor amphitheater movie experience includes film screenings of "The Wizard of Oz," "The Matrix" and "Deadpool."

DENVER — Colorado's most-picturesque cinema experience is back.

Denver Film and Denver Arts & Venues will screen five movies under the stars at Red Rocks Amphitheatre this summer.

Film on the Rocks begins its 25th annual summer concert series at Red Rocks Amphitheatre on Monday with a screening of "The Matrix."

The 85th anniversary of "The Wizard of Oz" will be celebrated with at Red Rocks on Monday, July 8. Other films this year include "Shrek," "Deadpool," and "Mad Max: Fury Road."

Gates open for Film on the Rocks at 6:30 p.m. with musical guests taking the stage at 7 p.m., followed by the film presentation at 8:30 p.m.

    • Monday, Aug. 19, 8:30 p.m.

Tickets for the five-event season are on sale at denverfilm.org. Tickets are $20 for general admission and $35 for VIP reserved seating. Group sales are also available by contacting boxoffice@denverfilm.org.

After two years of drive-in screenings and a limited run of in-amphitheater events in 2021, Film on the Rocks returned to a fully in-amphitheater experience in 2022 and 2023.

Yoga on the Rocks is also coming back at Red Rocks in June, July and August.
