MONUMENT, Colo. — Whataburger has declared Thursday as National Whataburger Day and the chain is celebrating in a big way.

Whataburger said all active Whataburger app users are eligible for a free Orange Birthday Cake Shake.

Whataburger’s Birthday Shake is made with the chain’s vanilla shake base turned a classic Whataburger-orange color, topped with white whipped cream and finished with bright orange sprinkles.

“The Birthday Shake tastes like fun,” Whataburger SVP and Chief Marketing Officer Scott Hudler said. “With its signature orange color, whipped cream, and sprinkles, it looks like a party in a cup. The icing on the shake is that Whataburger Rewards program members can celebrate this milestone with us by getting their shake entirely for free, no purchase necessary.”

The Texas-based burger chain returned to Colorado for the first time in decades in 2022, opening three locations in Colorado Springs. Whataburger now has six locations in Colorado Springs and a seventh in Monument.

Whataburger began as a stand in Corpus Christi, Texas, in the 1950s and has since grown to more than 1,000 locations in 15 states.

The franchise once had a presence in Colorado, including a location on 88th Avenue in Thornton that became Jim's Burger Haven.
