Denver restaurant says its Michelin award was stolen

"If you stumbled upon it, let’s chat over a drink – no hard feelings, just good vibes and gratitude," Hey Kiddo posted.

DENVER — Denver restaurant Hey Kiddo said on Wednesday that its award from the Michelin Guide has been stolen.

Hey Kiddo received an award last year from the Michelin Guide, which annually recognizes the nation's top restaurants.

"Calling all detectives! Last year, Hey Kiddo was acknowledged by the Michelin Guide for our GOOD + FUN experiences," the restaurant posted on Instagram. "On Sunday, someone stole our accolade from us!"

"Help the Peacewalker find where it might have gone! If you stumbled upon it, let’s chat over a drink – no hard feelings, just good vibes and gratitude. Let’s turn this mystery into a tale of kindness and camaraderie."

Located at Tennyson Street and West 43rd Avenue, Hey Kiddo said it is known for in-house fermentation, well-sourced protein, local grain and a zero-waste kitchen mentality.

In June, Colorado was announced as the sixth region in the United States to get a Michelin Guide. Restaurants in Denver County, Boulder County, Aspen and Snowmass Village, Vail and Beaver Creek are now able to earn a coveted star.

In September, the Michelin Guide announced which Colorado restaurants were the first to be honored with the star and other culinary accomplishments. Five Colorado restaurants received a Michelin Star.

Restaurants can be honored with one, two or three stars. Each of Colorado's five honorees restaurants earned one star.

Thirty Colorado restaurants, including Hey Kiddo, received the guide's "Recommended" designation, which is for restaurants where "inspectors have found the food to be above average, but not quite at star or Bib level," according to the Guide.

"The Michelin Guide's expansion to Colorado is expected to significantly boost tourism across the state, as it will draw food enthusiasts and travelers from near and far to explore the diverse and dynamic culinary scene while trying others less traveled," said Hayes Norris, Colorado Tourism Office spokesperson.

"This move will elevate Colorado's status as a global dining destination, showcasing its unique flavors and the state's commitment to sustainability and innovation in the culinary industry."
