LAFAYETTE, Colo. — One of Colorado's most unique festivals is ending after nearly three decades.
The Lafayette Oatmeal Festival will not be held in Lafayette in January, ending a run of 27 years, the Lafayette Chamber of Commerce announced in a news release.
"With our longtime partner Quaker Oats moving in a new direction, the festival will be retired," the Lafayette Chamber of Commerce said. "Like many of you, we'll miss those oatmeal-filled mornings and the joy this unique tradition brought to our community."
"From sponsoring activities to sharing beloved and delicious oats with the community here, Quaker's commitment to community spirit and togetherness truly made a lasting impact, and we are forever grateful for the memories created together."
The Lafayette Oatmeal Festival had been held each January with an oatmeal breakfast with more than 150 oatmeal toppings, as well as a 5K run and walk, blood drive and other events.
"Thank you to everyone — attendees, runners, sponsors, volunteers, and vendors—who helped make the Oatmeal Festival such a cherished tradition," said the Lafayette Chamber of Commerce. "We are excited to create, innovate, and make new memories, add new activities, and celebrate everything that makes Lafayette special with our other events. Here’s to the future and to many more wonderful events ahead!"
