DENVER — Fresh off the Broadway stage, the musical "Kimberly Akimbo" is beginning its national tour in Colorado.
The winner of five Tony Awards during the 2023 season, "Kimberly Akimbo" begins the 2024-25 Broadway season at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts.
"Kimberly Akimbo" will play Sunday, Sept. 22. through Sunday, Oct. 5, at the Buell Theatre.
The Broadway musical is about a 16-year-old girl with a genetic condition that causes her body to age faster than others, giving her the appearance of a older woman. The new tour stars three-time Tony Award nominee Carolee Carmello, who will play Kimberly, as well as many members of the original Broadway cast.
Beginning in Denver, the musical will embark on an 80-week tour that will play more than 60 cities across North America.
The show was named best musical by the Tony Awards, New York Drama Critics Circle, The Drama Desk Awards, The Lucille Lortel Awards, and The Outer Critics Circle Awards.
While tickets are already on sale, a limited number of tickets will be available for $31 in a digital ticket lottery.
Denver Center for the Performing Arts (DCPA) said theatergoers can register for the tickets on Lucky Seat. Fans who are selected will be able purchase up to two tickets for $31 each.

Entrants must be 18 years or older. A valid, non-expired photo ID that matches the name used to enter is required for pickup. Seat locations awarded by the lottery are subject to availability.
