DENVER — Colorado's largest running event was back on its traditional May weekend for the first time since 2019.
The Denver Colfax Marathon presented by Cigna returned to its traditional May weekend from Friday, May 13 to Sunday, May 15.
More than 20,000 runners were expected to participate in the 16th annual Denver Colfax Marathon, which again served as a Boston Marathon-qualifying event. This weekend's events included a marathon, half marathon, 10 miler, 5K and the nation’s largest marathon relay.
Fort Collins' Tyler McCandless won the marathon on the men's side, finishing in 2 hours, 21 minutes, 8 seconds, breaking the marathon record by more than three minutes.
Denver's Sarah Villasenor won the women's race, finishing in 3 hours, 2 minutes, 52 seconds.
The 15th annual Denver Colfax Marathon took place in October 2021 after being postponed from May 2020.
