ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — Centennial Airport will hold a 5K run/walk community event on its runway.
The Centennial Airport Runway 5K will be held Saturday, June 1.
The course will take runners and walkers on Runway 10/28 and Taxiway D, with the finish line and post-race festivities on the Wings Over the Rockies Exploration of Flight ramp and campus.
Organizers said a post-race party will be held amongst Wings Over the Rockies aircraft and new South Metro Fire Rescue striker ARFF trucks.
Runners will receive a limited-edition race hat and admission to Wings Over the Rockies Exploration of Flight on race day and, upon completion of the race, a finisher medal.
Only registered runners will be allowed on the Centennial Airport runway and taxiway. Spectator admission will be required to enter Wings Over the Rockies Exploration of Flight on race day.
The event's proceeds will benefit the Centennial Airport Foundation, a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization that provides scholarships and other support to those who are working toward a career in aviation.
Registration for the 5K is underway at CentennialAirport5K.com.
Denver International Airport held a 5K race on one of its runways in September 2022.
