What's up with the bridge to nowhere in Denver?

The lonely bridge will be part of the Broadway Station redevelopment on South Broadway along Interstate 25.

DENVER — In the heart of Denver stands a bridge to nowhere.

The pedestrian bridge near the old Gates Rubber Factory property sits empty in a field near Interstate 25 and Broadway.

"Next With Kyle Clark" viewer Dave asked about the solitary bridge, which is located near West Mississippi Avenue between Broadway and Santa Fe Drive.

The pedestrian bridge is part of the long-term Broadway Station redevelopment. It's part of a planned network of pedestrian bridges over RTD train tracks at the site near I-25 and Broadway.

The land on either side of the bridge has been purchased for residential developments, but those projects are still early in the permitting stages.

Development at the former Gates rubber plant has been slow because there is contaminated soil in the area and the pandemic delayed things even more.
