Library branch to close in Thornton

The library's services are expected to move to a new location in the autumn.

THORNTON, Colo. — A library branch in Thornton will close in May.

Anythink Libraries announced Tuesday it will close its York Street branch on Friday, May 17.

Anythink Libraries said the York Street library's services will be relocated to the new Thornton Community Center, which is scheduled to open in the fall.  Until the new library opens, York Street employees will be reassigned to work at other locations.

"We’re grateful to have developed lasting relationships with our Anythink York Street customers over the last decade," said Mark Fink, Executive Director of Anythink. "Moreover, we are excited to start a new chapter by returning to our original site in south Thornton and offering expanded library hours as well as outstanding programs."

Temporary library service will be provided by the Anythink in Motion bookmobile beginning June 4, at Community Park in Thornton on Tuesdays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

York Street customers are encouraged to pick up any holds and finalize transactions by May 5 or access services at the other six Anythink locations. Three closest locations to York Street location:

Anythink Wright Farms

  • Monday — Thursday, 9 a.m. — 7 p.m.
  • Friday — Saturday, 9 a.m.  — 5 p.m.

Anythink Huron Street

  • Monday — Thursday, 9 a.m. — 7 p.m.
  • Friday — Saturday, 9 a.m.  — 5 p.m.

Anythink Commerce City

  • 7185 Monaco St., Commerce City
    Tuesday – Thursday, 9 a.m. – 7 p.m.
    Friday – Saturday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
