FRASER, Colo. — Like many Colorado towns, Fraser is surrounded by mountains and has plenty of natural scenery to look at.
Adding to the landscape are the murals that can be found all over town.
Fraser is a small town in Grand County located about 1.5 hours west of Denver. Just about everywhere you look, there’s likely to be a mural on a wall, door or garage.
Eric Vandernail with the Fraser Public Arts Committee said the town will be adding a lot more this summer.
“We’ve had a really good response," Vandernail said. "The hard part will be selecting them."
On July 26-27, artists will arrive from around the country for the first ever Fraser Mountain Mural Festival with work being painted on 8 foot-by-8-foot panels.
The creations will eventually be auctioned off to raise money for a new creative arts center in Fraser.
"They'll be up for the rest of the summer, so people can come check them out at the end of the summer," Vandernail said. "We hope to auction them off, and proceeds go to the future home of the Fraser Center of Creative Arts."
That creative arts center is expected to help bring more people, artists and art to Fraser.
