Colorado is celebrating its 148th anniversary of becoming a state with a large variety of events and deals involving local businesses and community organizations.

Colorado Day events and deals run involving hundreds of businesses take place between July 24 and August 4.

Highlights include free admission to all state parks on Monday, discounted admission to the Denver Zoo, Denver Nature and Science Museum’s “Orcas: Our Shared Future,” Wings Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum, Exploration of Flight at Centennial Airport, along with farmers markets, state fairs, rodeos and free concerts series across the states, and much more.

Colorado officially became the 38th state in the Union in 1876, 100 years after the United States became a nation, leading to it becoming known as the "Centennial State."

Colorado Day marking the anniversary of statehood is celebrated on August 1.

"Celebrate Colorado is an opportunity to support local business, get outside, and strengthen our communities," Gov. Jared Polis said.
