DENVER — Stores across the United States either close or adjust business hours on holidays like Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Eve.
In 2020, stores were closed on Thanksgiving Day because of the pandemic. Since then, many stores have announced continued holiday closures as the Thanksgiving holiday approaches.
So, what is open on Thanksgiving?
King Soopers announced that it will close at 4 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day, but will reopen for regular store hours the following Friday. King Soopers' Pharmacies will be closed on Thanksgiving Day.
Safeway will close at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day. Safeway Pharmacies will close at 4 p.m. on Thanksgiving.
Some CVS and Walgreens stories may be open; check for local hours. Walmart will be closed on Thanksgiving.

- Big Lots — 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- CVS — Operating under normal hours by location, certain pharmacy locations may have shortened hours.
- Dollar General — 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
- King Soopers — Stores close at 4 p.m. Thanksgiving. Pharmacies closed.
- Safeway — Stores close at 6 p.m. Thanksgiving. Pharmacies close at 4 p.m.
- Whole Foods — Hours vary by location.

Although many retailers will be closed on Thanksgiving, shoppers can look forward to the Black Friday retail holiday that many stores have extended through the weekend.
