Here are some ways to help others this holiday season

KUSA — With the holidays just around the corner, here are some ways you can give back to your community with friends or family.

The list includes preparing Thanksgiving meals for disabled families, delivering Christmas trees, and buying toys for a family in need.

THANKSGIVING

Thanksgiving meals for the less fortunate

Help Jewish Family Service provide meals to struggling families. You can donate money or food from the list posted online. Please bring food donations by Nov. 12.

Email Jewish Family Service with questions at donations@jewishfamilyservice.com or contact them at 720-248-4618.

Cook turkeys, sort through donations, and deliver food to the homeless and less fortunate with Operation Turkey.

Buy and donate Thanksgiving food

The Denver Rescue Mission needs frozen turkeys, boxed mashed potatoes, boxed stuffing, canned fruit, canned vegetables, and canned yams to give to men, women, and children in need at the Lawrence Street Community Center, Fort Collins Rescue Mission, and The Crossing.

    Donate food, toiletries, and clothes

    Donate non-perishable food items, toiletries like shampoo and toothpaste for more than a hundred Colorado food banks at 9Cares Colorado Shares.

    Help donate and give out toys to kids

    The annual Dolls for Daughters and Toys for Boys Toy Shop will provide gifts for 5,000 children. You can help by donating toys, Lego sets, stockings and books at a drop-off location by Nov. 30.
