Thousands flock to Red Rocks early Easter morning to watch the sun rise over the amphitheatre to listen to the annual holiday service.
This year's service is Sunday, April 16. Events start at 6 a.m. and doors open at 4:30 a.m.
The Easter sunrise service is free of charge.
Bishop Jim Gonia with Rocky Mountain Synod, Evangelical Lutheran Church in America is the speaker.
The first Easter sunrise service was held in 1947, just over five years after the amphitheatre was dedicated.
In 2016, the service was canceled after nearly two feet of snow fell in the area days before Easter.
