KUSA – Did you know actor Don Cheadle graduated from East High School?
Cheadle is just one of the celebrities featured in a new addition to the Blair Caldwell African American Research Library and Museum in Five Points.
The display shines a light on African American stars who got their start in Denver.
Actress Pam Grier, symphonic celebrity Charlie Burrell, and a D-J who's worked with the likes of Beyonce all graduated from public high schools in the Denver area.
The library is a treasure-trove for African American history in Colorado and we're sharing some of those stories with you during Black History Month.
Watch for special stories with a local focus every Friday in February on 9NEWS at 4 p.m. And check out a virtual tour of the display in the video above.
