DENVER - The University of Colorado Denver will host its fifth-annual Black History Month celebration, entitled "Our Civil Rights – Rebels to Remember," Friday at the Tivoli Student Union on the Auraria campus.
The event will feature exhibits, food, music, and breakout sessions honoring Black history in Colorado. Breakout sessions will also include a screening of a portion of the film Rebels Remembered, a chronicle of the civil rights movement in Denver. Film Director Dick Alweis will be on hand to discuss the film and in particular the desegregation of Denver schools in the 1960s and '70s.
The event is free and open to the public.
