My family is notorious for showing up early for holiday meals.
As soon as they enter the house, they’re looking for a nosh or two, so this recipe came out of sheer necessity to get ‘em happy and chewing as soon as possible.

The best part is that most of the ingredients are ones you already have on hand for a Thanksgiving meal.
It’s my answer to the question, “What do you do when the family shows up early for Thanksgiving dinner?”
Baked Brie and Camembert Duo
Ingredients:
- 1 wheel of Brie, cut off rind around outer edge
- 1 wheel of Camembert, cut off rind around outer edge
- 1 box Pepperidge Farm Puff Pastry Sheets (2 per box), thawed
- 1 big handful brown sugar
- 1 big handful chopped pecans
- ½ cup cranberry sauce
- Egg Wash: 2 eggs beaten with 2 Tablespoons water
- Flour
- Assorted grapes on the vine, sliced apples and/or crackers
- Parchment Paper
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- Sprinkle your surface with a little flour. Roll out one puff pastry sheet to a size big enough to wrap around the entire wheel of brie.
- Place brie in center of puff pastry. Poke holes in the top of brie with the end of a wooden spoon. Pour cranberry sauce on top of brie, trying not to let cranberry sauce drip down the sides of the cheese.
- Going in a circular motion, bring up ends of puff pastry to center and gently press together and seal with a little egg wash. The entire brie should be encased in the puff pastry like a package. If there is any extra puff pastry, you can cut it off and use a decorative cookie cutter to create a pretty shape to place on top.
- Gently brush top and sides of puff pastry “package” and place on one side of a parchment-lined cookie sheet.
- Move on to the Camembert cheese. Roll out the second sheet of puff pastry as before, and place cheese in center.
- Again, poke holes in the top of cheese with the end of a wooden spoon. Place brown sugar and pecans on top.
- Just like the brie, bring up ends of puff pastry to create a package. Seal with egg wash, garnish with any extra puff pastry and brush top and sides with egg wash. Place on other side of parchment-lined cookie sheet.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until puff pastry is puffed up and golden brown.
- Remove from oven let sit for 2-3 minutes, then serve on a platter with grapes, crackers, and/or apples.
