DENVER — It's been standing on the corner of Grant Street and East 13th Avenue for nearly 40 years — now, the original Quiznos is listed on a real estate site.
A spokesperson for the Denver-based sandwich shop chain said the economics of operating the location have become unsustainable "amid local market expansion and associated rising costs."
"Because of this, the franchisee has decided to explore all available options," the spokesperson said in an emailed statement.
The store, located at 1275 Grant. St. in the Capitol Hill neighborhood, is being marketed on LoopNet, which lists 1,532 square feet of retail space available for a rate of $35 per-square-foot per-year.
LoopNet is a mobile and online real estate marketplace that aims to connect tenants and investors to commercial real estate available for sale and for lease.
Jimmy Lambatos opened the first Quiznos in 1981, and it eventually branched into a franchising business.
The Quiznos spokesperson said the location will remain open for the time being.
"This location, which has served local patrons for decades, remains open...along with about 15 other Quiznos restaurants in the Denver area," the spokesperson wrote in the email.
Quiznos is a chain restaurant that creates toasted sandwiches. It has locations across the U.S. and 32 countries. Quiznos restaurants serve sandwiches, subs and salads.
