DENVER — A restaurant chain that brought a taste of Maine to Colorado is closing its Denver and Boulder locations.
Maine Shack announced on Facebook this week that after more than five years in Denver's Lower Highland neighborhood, it will be temporarily closing its doors on Sunday, Nov. 10 for the winter season and looking for a "new and improved space to call home" starting in the spring or summer of 2025.
The Facebook post cited a rent increase as a factor in the company's decision to close the Denver location.

The chain also announced that Sunday, Nov. 3 will be its last day in business in Boulder.
"This was not an easy decision to make, but with the rising cost of labor and goods, along with current economic challenges facing small businesses, closing Boulder was best for the health of our company," the post read.
Maine Shack said they look forward to sharing news of a new Denver location in the new year.
The New England-style seafood chain opened its Denver location in July 2019, featuring a variety of offerings "straight from the Gulf of Maine" including lobster rolls, whole bellied fried clams, lobster mac and cheese, cheddar and lobster fondue, and authentic New England claim chowder.
Guests could also enjoy creative cocktails like the Lobsterini (Chatter Wolf rye vodka, lobster brine and dry vermouth) and a Lobster Bloody Mary.
A location near Boulder's Pearl Street Mall opened in November 2023.
The chain is currently working on opening a new location this December in Naples, Florida.
