6th Colorado restaurant receives Michelin Star

The addition expands the number of Michelin-starred restaurants in Colorado to six.

DENVER — Colorado is home to another Michelin-starred restaurant after the Michelin Guide revealed a new local recipient of the sought-after rating Monday.

The addition expands the number of Michelin-starred restaurants in Colorado to six. It's the second year the Michelin Guide has rated restaurants in the area.

The guide's anonymous reviewers granted a single-star rating to Alma Fonda Fina, a contemporary Mexican concept at 2556 15th St., in Denver’s Lower Highland neighborhood.

The eatery serves Mexican cuisine ranging from crisped pork belly carnitas tacos to an applewood smoked tuna tostada and lamb birria.

Alma Fonda Fina is the brainchild of Chef Johnny Curiel, who grew up in Guadalajara, Mexico, surrounded by a family of chefs. Curiel has worked at restaurants across Mexico and the U.S., including Guard + Grace and Los Chingones in Denver, before launching Alma Fonda Fina in December.
