Cheyenne Frontier Days — Cheyenne
Located just seven miles past the Colorado-Wyoming border, Cheyenne Frontier Days, CFD, the Daddy of 'em All, is simply a must-see. It's the world's largest outdoor rodeo and western celebration. The 10-day event begins Friday. There's a carnival, western art show, old west museum, dancin' saloon, old frontier town, nearly daily rodeos, Indian Village and huge night show entertainment acts. Florida Georgia Line headlines Friday night, Cole Swindell on Saturday and Charlie Daniels Band on Sunday. Next week's night show performers include Eric Church, Toby Keith, Nickelback and Dierks Bentley. There will also be parades through downtown Cheyenne on Saturday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday the 28th. Blues & BBQ — Edgewater
Blues & BBQ returns to Citizen's Park in Edgewater on Saturday. All the money raised from the event will go to Habitat for Humanity Metro Denver.There will be nine local bands including The Duke Street Kings, Eef and The Blues Express, Ricky Earle Band featuring Cherise, Ryan Chrys and the Roughcuts, Wild Love Tigress, My Blue Sky, Teledonna, The Dale Cisek Band and The Sympbols. On hand will be lots of food vendors, local breweries and local artisans. Tickets are just $10 for an all-day pass. You can get your tickets at BluesNBBQ.com.
Chaffee County Fair & Rodeo — Poncha Springs
The 2018 Chaffee County Fair is underway! An Equine Trail Sports Obstacle Challenge takes place Friday morning. The big event this weekend is a concert headlined by William Michael Morgan. Jason Boland and The Stagglers will open the show. Tickets are available at ChaffeeCountyFair.com. The Chaffee County Fair runs through Sunday, July 29.
El Paso County Fair — Calhan
The El Paso County Fair in Calhan rolls on this weekend with a concert by Jake Worthington on Thursday after bull riding. A tractor pull with a concert by Sandy Wells highlights the Friday entertainment lineup. Friday is also Senior Day for those 55 and older with $3 admission, a free breakfast, a free slice of pie at noon and free bingo in the afternoon. The fair ends on Saturday with a demolition derby followed by a concert by Exit West. Park County Fair — Fairplay
The Park County Fair is now open and the schedule is packed. The 2018 schedule includes a pie-eating contest, kids mac n' cheese contest, talent show, 4-H shows, livestock shows, movie screening and chili cook-off - and that's just on Thursday! A rodeo will be held Friday, Saturday (also featuring the Westernaires) and Sunday. All weekend long there will be a carnival, beer garden, kids activities, exhibits and live music. Wings Over the Rockies is celebrating the opening of phase one of Wings' Exploration of Flight Campus at Centennial Airport this weekend. Wings Over the Rockies' Boeing Blue Sky Aviation Gallery will be the museum's second campus, the first being in Denver's Lowry neighborhood. The celebration this weekend will be held from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday with games, activities and music. Opening weekend pricing is just $5 for adults and $3 for those under 16. Mile-High NHRA Nationals — Morrison
The biggest event of the year at Bandimere Speedway is here! The 39th Annual Dodge Mile-High NHRA Nationals powered by Mopar is the ultimate family racing event of the summer. There will be competitions in top fuel, funny car, pro stock and pro stock motorcycle. Saturday night features a street party with live music and Nitro Alley will have a vendor midway with the latest products. Festival in the Clouds — Alma
Now in it's 21st year, Festival in the Clouds brings three days of music and art to Alma, the highest incorporated town in the USA. The festival, which runs from Friday to Sunday, includes 25 bands, 40 regional artists, food, a beer garden, children's activities, dancing and more. German Fest — Lakewood
Lakewood Heritage Center Amphitheater will be home to German Fest on Saturday and Sunday. Be sure to come with an empty stomach. The festival features authentic German food including wiener schnitzel, German sauerbraten, beef goulash, brats with sauerkraut and much more. There's going to be a beer garden, live music, covered dance floor and family-friendly activities like arts, crafts, balloons and face painting. The festival is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. Parking is free and tickets, available at the gate, are $7 for adults and $2 or kids. Seating is limited, so be sure to bring your lawn chairs and blankets.
The Denver Broncos are traveling south for a special fan event at Pueblo's City Park on Satuday. The Broncos 7K and Salute to Fans Rally starts with the run/walk in which participants will get a Broncos 7K Pueblo shirt, finisher's medal, personalized bib and free snacks and water. Current and former Broncos will be signing autographs, Broncos cheerleaders and Miles the Mascot will be on hand, as will the Broncos' three Super Bowl trophies. The 7K starts at 8:30 a.m. and race registration is available online.
Summerfest — Evergreen
Evergreen's Buchanan Park will be home to the 39th Annual SummerFest this Saturday and Sunday. This event is a family-friendly festival of art, crafts, music and beer. Over 120 artisans and craftspeople will be selling their work in ceramics, digital art, fiber, glass, jewelry, metal, mixed media, painting, photography, sculpture, wood and more. Admission to the festival is $5 for adults and children are free. Evergreen's premier beer tasting event, Palette of Brews, will be held on Saturday only. Tickets are sold separately at EvergreenArts.org and allow guests unlimited tastings.
Rocky Mountain State Games — Colorado Springs
The Rocky Mountain State Games is a multi-sport festival for athletes of all ages and athletic abilities. About 30 sports competitions will be held this weekend and next at the Olympic Training Center, National Strength & Conditioning Association, University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, Colorado College and Memorial Park. Some sports require a small ticket fee to attend, but most are free for spectators. Head to RockyMountainStateGames.org and click on a sport to see when and where the competition is being held.
Pearl Street Arts Fest — Boulder
The 40th Annual Pearl Street Arts Fest will be held on Saturday and Sunday in downtown Boulder. A celebration of visual art, the festival includes many varieties of art from whimsical to modern sculptures to watercolors, oils and more. The festival begins at 10 a.m. each day, admission is free and the City of Boulder parking garages will be free as well. Pearl Street Arts Fest will, of course, be held on beautiful Pearl Street Mall which features numerous restaurant, bar and shopping choices.
Global Dance Festival — Denver
The 16th Annual Global Dance Festival returns to Broncos Stadium at Mile High on Friday and Saturday nights. The festival promises to be bigger and better than ever with dozens of artists on multiple stages outside the stadium, plus there'll be carnival rides, food trucks and VIP village. Speedway 5K — Fountain
This one-of-a-kind 5K race takes place on the oval track of Pikes Peak International Raceway. Runners in Sunday's event will run on the track that saw Danica Patrick, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Tony Stewart and Matt Kenseth take the green flag. Gates will open at 8 a.m. and the race will begin at 10. Afterwards there will be food, beer, vendors and live music. Save money by registering ahead of time at Speedway5K.com.
Def Leppard / Journey — Denver
Be good to yourself this weekend by getting rocked with Def Leppard, Journey and special guests The Pretenders on Saturday night. All three legendary groups will be faithfully performing their greatest hits to the hysteria of their fans under the lights of Coors Field. Even though love bites, grab your special someone for a bit of lovin', touchin', squeezin' before you head your separate ways. Westminster Latino Festival — Westminster
The 3rd Annual Latino Festival is a free community event that aims to bring together people and families in a fun and safe environment where they can enjoy Latino and other cultures. Saturday's festival will be held at the RTD Westminster Station at 6995 Grove St. It will feature live music from Latin bands performing reggae, Cuban fusion, R&B soul, regional Mexican and more. Expect plenty of food choices from food trucks and vendors.
Denver Outlaws vs. Dallas Rattlers — Denver
The Denver Outlaws are back in action Sunday at noon at Broncos Stadium at Mile High. Denver's outdoor professional lacrosse team will be battling the Dallas Rattlers. The Outlaws are looking to keep their hot-streak alive with just a few weeks remaining in the regular season. Denver Outlaws tickets can be purchased at Ticketmaster.com.
The Great Inflatable Race — Colorado Springs
What is the Great Inflatable Race? It's a fun run with inflatable obstacles spread out throughout the course. Participants will have to jump, dive and bounce on the custom course and after the race can enjoy the inflatable village. Once you register online you'll receive a shirt, wristband, temporary tattoo and race medal. This weekend's race will be held at Colorado Springs' Memorial Park at 9 a.m. on Saturday.
Colorado Shakespeare Festival — Boulder
You Can't Take It With You, the newest production of the Colorado Shakespeare Festival, opens Friday night at the University Theatre on the CU Boulder campus. The classic 1930 screwball comedy, written by Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman, is about the fireworks that erupt when Alice brings her boyfriend's traditional, straight-laced family to dine with her household of freethinking eccentrics. The comedy has performances scheduled for Friday and Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. and will run through August 12. Tickets are available at CUPresents.org.
Rally Colorado — Rangely
Rally Colorado returns to Rangely on Friday and Saturday for thrilling race action that involves slipping, sliding and jumping. Stage rally car racing modified street-legal cars who race as fast as possible on underdeveloped roads. The Prospectors Run rally takes place Friday and the Blazin' Sadlles rally is on Saturday. Rally Colorado is round 5 of the 2018 Rally America National Championship. This year international driver Rhys Millen will be tackling the course as well. While the course up Pikes Peak is 12.4 miles and 156 turns, Rally Colorado is 120 miles and 3,000+ turns.
Grand Junction Rockies — Grand Junction
The Colorado Rockies' rookie affiliate, the Grand Junction Rockies, continue their seven-game homestand this weekend at Suplizio Field. The Rockies will finish a series with the Billings Mustangs on Friday on a fireworks and wine glass giveaway night. Grand Junction starts a series with the Great Falls Voyagers on Saturday (with free Scott Oberg bobbleheads) and Sunday (toothbrush night). MiLB.com is the place for GJ Rockies tickets.
One of the most picturesque art and music festivals in Colorado is certainly this weekend's festival in Salida. Situated on the lush green lawns on the banks of the Arkansas River in historic downtown Salida, rafters and fisherman can be seen from the festival site. The Salida Riverside Art & Music Festival will have the best of local blues and folk musicians, food vendors, kids activities, face painting as well as local and national artists. Admission to the festival, on Saturday and Sunday, is free.
The Colorado Symphony will be performing every note from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire for three nights this weekend. Audiences will enjoy seeing the famous boy wizard as he deals with a school crush, a new rival and a mysterious wizard tournament, all in high-definition on a giant screen with the orchestra playing the film's score live. Colorado National Speedway — Dacono
The 2018 racing season at Colorado National Speedway continues with a packed event this Saturday night. The Elite V-Twin Saturday Night Showdown will have competitions in pro trucks, late models, legends and figure-8s. Grandstand gates will open at 4 p.m. and race action will get underway at 6 p.m. Tickets are available at ColoradoSpeedway.com or at the gate. Colorado National Speedway is a three-eighths mile paved oval located just north of Denver on I-25.
Downtown Aspen Art Festival — Aspen
Aspen's Rio Grande Park will be home to the 16th Annual Downtown Aspen Art Festival on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The free outdoor art festival offers a wide-range of creations in sculpture, photography, glass, paintings, ceramics, one-of-a-kind jewelry and mixed media. Rio Grande Park, located one block from Aspen's Main Street, runs along the river offering a cool and relaxing art show experience with downtown dining and shopping options nearby.
Springs Beer Fest — Colorado Springs
The largest outdoor beer festival in Colorado Springs will take over American the Beautiful Park from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday. The 12th Annual Springs Beer Fest will have unlimited samples of beer from over 50 craft breweries, live music and vendors. Tickets to this 21 and older event are available online or at Colorado Springs Old Chicago Restaurants, Rock Bottom Restaurant or Bristol Brewery.
Telluride Yoga Festival — Telluride
The Telluride Yoga Festival is a unique four-day event with over 100 offerings including yoga, meditation, music, hiking, dinings, SUP yoga, social gatherings and more. This 11th Annual festival takes place from Thursday to Sunday. Single-day or multi-day immersion passes can be purchased at TellurideYogaFestival.com. Nestled at the end of a canyon and surrounded by some of Colorado's most rugged peaks, event organizers say Telluride offers a truly unique yoga experience. 719 Day Brewfest — Colorado Springs
The 719 Day Brewfest (719 as in Colorado Springs' area code and July 19) will be held on Friday, July 20 due to a parking lot conflict with the Colorado Springs Sky Sox. The beer festival, set to be held at the home of the Colorado Springs Switchbacks, Weidner Field, will offer the best of the 719 with local craft beer, distilleries, food trucks, music, games, non-profits and Colorado Springs pride. Ten percent of all ticket sales will be donated to Empty Stocking Fund benefiting 20 partner non-profits in Colorado Springs. Tickets for this adults-only event are available at 719Day.com.
Sundaes at the South Precinct — Littleton
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office’s South Precinct is hosting its 2nd Annual Sundaes at the South Precinct event on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. The sheriff's office will be serving sundaes to the public and everyone is invited! There will also be equipment on display including a bomb truck, SWAT vehicle, patrol cars, motorcycle, Cheezo Cool Cat, the Mounted Posse and K9 unit. There will be a sundae decorating contest and the winner – a local elementary school student – will win a pizza party for his or her class this fall. The South Precinct is located at 11139 Bradford Road.
Into the Woods — Denver
The newest production of the Phamaly Theatre Company is now underway at the Space Theatre at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts. "Into the Woods," the classic Stephen Sondheim musical has won several Tony Awards including Best Original Score (1988) and Best Revival of a Musical (2002). It tells the story of a baker and his wife who must break a witch's spell. Once they journey into the woods they find themselves connected with the fairy tales of Little Red Riding Hood, Cinderella, Rapunzel and Jack and the Beanstalk. "Into the Woods" will run through August 5 and tickets are on DenverCenter.org.
Shatterproof 5K — Denver
Saturday's Shatterproof 5K is dedicated to ending the devastation addiction causes families. Organizers say every dollar raised goes to uniting the community to shatter the stigma of addiction. Saturday's 5K walk or run starts at 9:30 a.m. at Great Lawn Park at 101 N. Yosemite St. Race registration can be completed at Shatterproof5K.org.
Thin Air Nats — Green Mountain Falls
Escape the heat and head west of Colorado Springs to Green Mountain Falls for the 39th Annual Thin Air Nats. Presented by Colorado Springs Rod & Custom, this car show will include over 150 vehicles on Saturday. The event features live music and games as well. Castle Rock WineFest — Castle Rock
Over 180 varieties of Colorado wine from more than two dozen wineries will be available for swirlin' and sippin' at this outdoor wine event at Castle Rock's Butterfield Crossing Park on Saturday night. If wine isn't your cup of tea, there will be a beer garden as well as delightful food trucks and live music. This event is for adults only, so leave the kids and pets with a sitter. Winter Park Jazz Festival — Winter Park
The 36th Annual Winter Park Jazz Festival on Saturday and Sunday will bring world-class artists and up and coming favorites to the outdoor amphitheater in Hideaway Park. Saturday's lineup includes American Idol winner Fantasia, Sheila E, Norman Brown, Eric Darius and Mary Louise Lee. Chainsaws & Chuckwagons — Frederick
Some of the most talented chainsaw carvers in the country will be in Colorado this weekend for a carving competition that pits the best against the best. The carving competition will take place on Main Street in Downtown Frederick. Artists will turn giant logs into beautiful works of art starting Wednesday. There will be live music, food trucks (also known as chuckwagons) on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. Yoga on the Rooftop — Boulder
Fans of the Buffs know there is no better stadium in the country than Folsom Field and that the most remarkable views at the stadium are found at the Rooftop Terrace. Imagine that breathtaking sight of the Flatirons and blue sky, all while doing complimentary yoga. Jo Marchi, a local Certified Yoga Alliance instructor, will be leading the free session on Sunday starting at 8 a.m. Registration is available online.
Reptilian Nation Expo — Denver
If you're looking to meet well-known reptile, amphibian and arachnid breeders, vendors and rescues in person, the Reptilian Nation Expo is the place to be. The event, taking place at the National Western Complex on Saturday and Sunday, will have exhibits and educational shows, children's activities as well as animals and supplies below retail prices. Rocky Mountain Antique Festival — Colorado Springs
The Norris Penrose Event Center in southwest Colorado Springs will be home to the Rocky Mountain Antique Festival this weekend. The festival, which runs Friday to Sunday, features quality, authentic, antique and vintage shopping with dealers from 12 states. Artsweek Golden Festival — Golden
Artists from all over the country will be showing and selling their work at the Colorado School of Mines campus at the Artsweek Golden Festival, the culmination of Artsweek Golden. The two-day event runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday with activities for kids and adults and delicious food from Top Dawg Sausages, Margaritas Food Truck, Sweet Cow Ice Cream and beer from Golden City Brewery.
Lavender Festival — Littleton
Back in 2015, a Lavender Garden was planted at Chatfield Farms. Now that the plants, more than 2,000, have come into bloom, the Denver Botanic Gardens is hosting a Lavender Festival on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The beautiful purple blooms should create the perfect backdrop for a day devoted to “all-things lavender."
