DU photo project brings together students, senior citizens

Photography is helping bridge the generational gap between college students and those living in a local senior living community.

Photography is helping bridge the generational gap between college students and those living in a local senior living community.

Nearly 2 dozen University of Denver photography students were paired with residents of the Clermont Park Retirement Community.

A part of the project, they've been photographing each other and then writing essays about their experiences.

Friday, the fruits of their labor were put on display at Clermont Park.

"We would look at the resident photographs...it's this idea that a photograph is a kind of a window into a person's life. They can talk about their whole life from one photograph," said Roddy Macinnes, associate professor of photography at DU.

This is the first time DU photography students have worked together with senior citizens.

Professor Macinnes says it's the most meaningful project he's ever done.
