DENVER - With warmer weather on the way, Denver's newest drive-in movie theater is set to premiere outdoor flicks the second weekend in June.
Misty Flachman, the project manager for the Denver Mart, says a cool, moist May slowed construction of their 3,480-square-foot outdoor movie screen and delayed an original Memorial Day opening plan to June 12.
Opening weekend events are scheduled for Friday and Saturday beginning at 7:30 p.m. (also when gates open). The films will begin about 9 p.m.
Flachman says the drive-in will have room for 310 cars, plus about 100 extra spots for people in lawn chairs to be seated in a patio area. There will be plenty of overflow parking, she says.
The Mart expects about 1,600 people will be able to pack into cars in the parking area and patio combined to watch the films.
Don't worry, for those of you who can't watch an action flick without a handful of popcorn, or enjoy a rom-com without some soda and candy, concessions will be open and available for purchase. Flachman says the average prices for "traditional" theater fare will be half the cost of a regular movie theater.
Screenings will all be double-features of movies ranging from PG to PG-13. Admission is $10 per person, with kids under 6 years old getting in for free.
Every Monday, all profits from ticket sales will go toward the military branch of Adaptive Adventures, a non-profit that assists wounded veterans. Each Tuesday, 100 percent of profits will go toward Senior Hub of Adams County.

The screen will be housed in the Pavilion Parking Lot on the northeast side of the complex at 451 East 58th Ave.
