MOFFAT COUNTY, Colo. — Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) confirmed on Saturday that wolves recently moved from western Routt County to eastern Moffat County.
Recent data shows that two collared wolves have made some broad movements in the last week, and indicate some wolves have relocated to Moffat County.
CPW says location points are collected every four hours at most, and data is downloaded every 16 hours.
"Wolves can and do move substantial distances between the four hours that points are collected, and the terrain and weather can impact when points are received," said Rachael Gonzales, a spokesperson for CPW. "This data gives us an informed perspective of where wolves have been, but not where they are, and certainly not where they are going."

CPW said it is continuing to work with livestock producers to provide conflict-mitigation techniques and will continue to conduct outreach and education in areas most likely to have wolves.
CPW will also share a map on its website the public can access to see where wolves have been the past month, give or take a few days. It will be updated on the fourth Wednesday of each month.
"CPW receives hundreds of reports of wolf sightings per year and while we cannot validate every informal sighting, our staff carefully reviews all credible reports submitted through our Wolf Sighting Form," Gonzales said. "We continue to encourage anyone who sees a wolf or wolf tracks to please submit a wolf sighting report form."
