ASPEN, Colo. — A mule deer buck attacked a woman at an Aspen park late last week, causing minor injuries. Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) said officers had to put the deer down.
The woman who was attacked was with a group of people at the basketball court at Rio Grand Park on North Mill Street at around noon Friday, CPW said. The buck mule deer began approaching the woman. She backed away to give the deer space when it attacked, CPW said.
The woman suffered minor injuries to her arms while protecting her face, according to CPW.
CPW officers arrived about an hour later, and found and caught the deer. The deer didn't show any fear of humans and was unusually aggressive, so officers made the decision to euthanize it, CPW said.
