DENVER - A new and exciting 2015/16 Colorado Symphony season includes diversity that will appeal to a wide range of musical tastes and likings.

The Colorado Symphony 2015/16 season kicks off Friday, Sept. 18 at Boettcher Concert Hall. 9NEWS is one of the symphony's sponsors.

The season will feature some of the most respected artists and conductors in symphonic music. Audiences can experience the mastery of one of the finest orchestras in the U.S. through more than 40 district programs.

"As everybody's orchestra, our goal and mission, always, is to curate a diverse offering of programs that appeal to music lovers of every taste and background," Jerome H. Kern, Colorado Symphony CEO and co-chair of its Board of Trustees, said. "We're thrilled by this year's lineup, which showcases the excellence, virtuosity, depth, and range of the Colorado Symphony."

Season Highlights:

The "Symphony At The Movies" series will provide movie lovers all the fun and excitement from their favorite films such as "Back to the Future," "Home Alone," and "Psycho."

All throughout the season artists from different genres will join the orchestra with astounding performances.

During the month of October ukulele master Jake Shimabukuro will perform "Pixar In Concert."

Andrew Litton, named music director of the Colorado Symphony in August 2013, returns for the 2015/16 season. Litton, has brought about a new level of excellence in both performance and programming widening the orchestra's reach and recognition on a global scale according to Colorado Symphony's press release.

Boettcher Concert Hall will house pianists such as Alessio Bax set to perform Tchaikovsky's "Piano Concerto No. 1," in September. November will feature Denis Kozhukhin's performance of Rachmaninoff's "Symphony No. 3."

The Geek Series will once again partake in the season featuring "A Weekend Of Star Wars," in December and "A Symphonic Tribute To Comic Con v3.0," in May. Those in attendance are encouraged to dress up as their favorite pop culture character.

Single tickets go on sale to the general public on Aug. 3.
