9 things to do on New Year's Eve

Downtown Denver offers New Year's Eve Fireworks at 9 p.m. and Midnight. Watch the free show from anywhere downtown!

Whatever you decide to do, enjoy New Years Eve responsibly and don't drink and drive.

1. Tavern Downtown

Described as "sexy and indulgent," this downtown New Year's Eve party includes some drinks, DJs, a photo booth, balloon drop and raffle prizes. You'll aso get a front-row seat to Denver's downtown fireworks from The Tavern's rooftop. Tickets are $30 in advance and can be purchased here.

2. Tavern Tech Center

Instead of making a trip to the Big Apple, make the trip south of Denver for Tavern Tech Center's New year's in New York. A variety of tickets are available, ranging from $120 per couple for a 4-course menu, glass of wine and entry into the Late Night Party, to First Class, which begins at 9:00 p.m. For $200, couples get a bottle of wine, a 4-course meal, drink tickets and VIP seating and gifts. You can just head to the Late Night Party for $15. They're also offering specials at nearby hotels and will offer a shuttle. Find tickets here.

3. The Mezzanine Colorado Springs

If dinner and a show is more your style, The Mezzanine will offer a performance of The Fantasticks, a buffet dinner, complimentary bottle of Champagne and music by Springs City Jazz Band and Mike Clark and the Sugar Sounds. Tickets are $75.00 per person or $150.00 per couple, with various options. Tickets available here.

4. Union Station

Featuring all free admission events, Union Station will have several different events inside their great halls. Dueling DJs will perform in the corners of the Great Hall from 9 p.m. until 11:30 p.m., with the winners playing through midnight. The lower level will be a speakeasy of sorts, offering elegant jazz provided by Gypsy Swing Style Quartet. The Copper Lounge will also be taking reservations and providing guests with high-end cocktails, an extensive wine list and a selection of delicious bites.  Space is limited and by reservation only. 5. White Rose Gala

Hosted at the DCPA's Ellie Caulkins Opera House, the event will likely sell out. Featuring a Roaring 20's theme, the 21+ party features live classic 20's music, a Vegas style DJ, speakeasy, and gaming tables in a VIP area. 6. Resolution NYE

For those who like to party, Resolution NYE features a dance party and open bar at The Curtis Hotel. The 21+ event takes over two floors of the hotel with multiple DJs, dancers, laser displays and plenty of surprises. Pricingbegins at $79 and increases as NYE gets closer. Get tickets here.

7. An Evening of Ballroom Elegance

At Golden's Denver West Marriott, Denver Ballroom Productions presents an elegant evening of dinner and dancing. Tickets start around $100 and can be found here.

8. New Years Eve Painting Party

Enjoy a glass of wine, some light snacks, and paint a canvas worthy of hanging in your halls for a relaxing New Years Evening. Great for groups, and costs $40, with all supplies included. You don't need to clean up, either! Party goes from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Sign up here.

9. The Black and White Bash

Take over downtown Fort Collins for a good cause. The Junior League of Fort Collins is a local charity that will benefit from the cocktail party. Live music from The Wendy Woo Band, Hors d'oeuvres, a silent auction, midnight toast, and door prizes as well as local beer and wine will be offered. 100% of the profits go towards JLFC charitable projects.  Tickets here

For kids and families:  

"Noon" Year at the Children's Museum of Denver at Marsico Campus

The Museum's family-friendly version of a rocking New Year's party filled with glittery balls drops, rainbows of confetti, bubble wrap "fireworks" and festive art projects. Kids can have their faces painted, make party hats and more. Lasts from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a noon-time ball drop.

Get home safely! Don't drink and drive. If you need a cab, the Michael Sawaya Law Firm will pay for it.
