DENVER — A tiny home community in Denver's Globeville neighborhood added eight new homes and a new Common House, which they unveiled Tuesday.
The Common House includes three bathrooms, a kitchen, a meeting/dining space and an outdoor deck and is the "heart and soul of our community," said Cole Chandler, spokesperson for the Beloved Community Village.
The Beloved Community Village, operated by Colorado Village Collaborative, is an alternative housing project that offers housing to people experiencing homelessness.
It launched in the River North neighborhood in July 2017 with 11 tiny homes, and moved to a city-owned host site at 4400 Pearl St. in Globeville in May 2019.

The eight new homes expanded on the 11 homes already there, bringing the total capacity in the village to 19 homes. All units are currently full and serving a total of 20 residents, Chandler said.
Chandler said 30 individuals have found homes at the village since it opened, with eight moving on to stable housing. He also said 75% of the current residents are employed, receiving income or enrolled in school.
Last October, Denver City Council passed a proposal to allow more tiny home villages for homeless communities. The new rules also allow those villages to stay where they are for a longer period of time.
Chandler said Colorado Village Collaborative is focused on utilizing new provisions within Denver's zoning code to replicate this model on other sites around the city.
