Thousands expected to pack Buena Vista for country music festival

Twenty-seven country artists and around 8,000 fans are expected in Buena Vista over a busy Labor Day weekend for the inaugural Seven Peaks Festival.

BUENA VISTA — At the Buena Viking in downtown Buena Vista, Anna Sitton and the staff are preparing for a big country rush.

The Buena Viking is a food truck that serves burgers and other comfort food.

Sitton said they are expecting a lot more people this year thanks to the Seven Peaks Festival, which is rolling into town.

The festival will blend together camping and 27 different country artists, like Clint Black, Miranda Lambert, Dierks Bentley and Sawyer Brown.

“We came to Seven Peaks to see Dierks mainly, but the others too,” said Rose Swalla, one of about 8,000 country music fans expected to attend the festival.

The 2018 festival takes place Aug. 31 to Sept. 2.

Swalla and Trent Donnelly have arrived early to see the setup. They planned an entire road trip around the event.

“We’ve been road tripping from Arizona up here,” Donnelly said.

Sitton said Labor Day weekend is typically Buena Vista's 3rd- or 4th-busiest weekend of the summer.

Sitton added that the Buena Viking food truck will be ready for the higher numbers of visitors.

“Conquering comfort food is our slogan,” Sitton said.
