The Denver Zoo's new tiger exhibit is now open to the public and is getting a great response from both zoo visitors and its feline residents.
"The Edge" brings guests closer than ever to the tigers with new panels that separate the animals by only 6 inches and a catwalk that allows the tigers to wander directly overhead. It also nearly doubles the outdoor space the zoo's tigers have.
"It's just nicer for them, it's bigger. It's better for the public, for us to educate the public. We can actually do demos with them now. We just get a lot of questions and people are getting to know what a Muir Tiger is, what their lifestyle is, realize that they are endangered, and it's important to save them," carnivore keeper Raejeana Pyeatt explained.
Keepers offer demonstrations with the tigers several times a day and also have a table with educational materials set up within the exhibit.
"The Edge" opened to the public on Friday, March 17 and guests have already noticed and appreciate the improvements.
"Really cool. It's a lot better than the other one." "Yea, by a lot," zoo visitors Brielle, Alexis and Sierra told us.
