When you live in a part of the state that is rich with vineyards, fruit orchards and so many peaches, you can't pass up the opportunity to use them to make something unique.
Peach Street Distillers, located in Palisade, is a small-batch spirits distillery with a tasting room.
For nearly six years, some of their bottles of Pear Brandy contain something more than pears that are fermented and distilled - there is actually a whole pear in the bottle.
How on earth do they get a whole pear in a bottle?
They grow the pears inside each bottle.
Workers hung the bottles in pear trees at Fuller Orchards in late May.
The pears will grow into the bottles, which will then be "harvested" in early September.
The pear brandy is sold at various locations around the state.
