Former Fairview Knight becomes CU’s first-ever locker room DJ

Boulder Prep grad and 4-year Fairview letterman became CU's first ever locker room DJ in Coach Prime's inaugural season.

BOULDER, Colo. — When you hear that CU Buffs music, you know it's about to go down!

But who's the guy spinning the records? A homegrown Boulder native who stepped up, beginning in the spring game, for the biggest story in college football.

"I've always kind of been wanting to take over radio for sure," said DJ Fa'Dorah.

"I'm just as nervous as can be, probably the most nervous I've ever seen in my whole music career. And I just remember (Deion 'Coach Prime' Sanders) saying, 'Give me my theme music!' and like be trembling and pushing the button on time and, like filling a relief behind it."

It doesn't get more Boulder than DJ Fa'Dorah — a 2005 graduate from Boulder Prep who also played varsity football for the Fairview Knights all four years of his high school career.

"I was good," he said. "We went to state twice. We never got it done, but we went twice. But i did my thing. I was definitely one of those cats that people thought would have pursued it in college."

But music has always been in his blood. By way of dance, turned hallway DJ between the walls of Boulder Prep.

"In between classes, I was able to come and do the radio and I would you know even back then, you know, it was kind of what i do now," he said. "I would play music in between classes and like curate the vibe for the day."

Still very much engrained in his high-school roots, Fa'Dorah attends practices and mentors players at Fairview while also still giving back to Boulder Prep. Still very close with his former science teacher, now headmaster, Lily Adeli.

"He always had the best music," Adeli said. "I remember going into his locker he had the big binder of CDs so I just like swiped his all of his CDs. I wanted to get those ripped for my own music music playlist."

Thanks to Adeli and Fa'Dorah's love for music, the students have a new and improved music studio on campus.

"It's just amazing how you push forward and you know, I love the game of football even though I left it I absolutely love the game of football," Fa'Dorah said.

"But now everything has come full circle and the music and the artistry of who I am has come back into the sports arena in the sports world and I'm able to have both you know and it's just been a beautiful feeling I'm more than blessed."

So, we know what the 'Prime Effect' has done for Boulder? But just how good has it been for DJ Fa'Dorah?

"I mean, listen, you know I got my hoodie," he said. "You know I'm saying like I got my buddy Sam like everything has been you know the promise like there's definitely amplify my life in every way."
