Detective David Snelling of the Arvada Police Department said Montoya's niece called the city manager's office asking how she could get her aunt's favorite dessert - cherry pie - delivered to her on the big day.

Arvada police were called to serve and visited a nearby bakery to order three pies. Following all the proper sanitary precautions, they delivered them to Montoya.

Happy Birthday to Susie Montoya of Arvada. Thank you Arvada Fire Department and Arvada City Government.

"How often do you have someone turn 102 in the city? We have to celebrate that," said detective Snelling. "We could certainly use some good feelings nowadays and do something positive, so it was easy for us to do."

Arvada's City Council also proclaimed March 27 as "Susie Montoya Day."
