KUSA - Miss Colorado Senior America knows the secret to staying young: it's rolling with the punches.
On Thursday, 60-year-old Buddi Boryla shared her knowledge with 9NEWS viewers, as well as talked about how she hasn't lost her spunk.
"It feels amazing [to be 60,]" Boryla said. "I have been working hard. I love being 60 [after] losing so many people before they were 60."
She laughs though, saying that people often say how pretty she is but then quantify it by following that compliment up with "for your age."
"Now I think 'does that mean I'm pretty? Or does that mean I'm old?' I have a choice here," Boryla said. "I am old. I'm 60. I love the fact that I have the choice because I am pretty at 60. I feel it from the inside out."
She says the keep to being successful at life is to be adaptable.
"If you stay in one place, you tend to only remember or define yourself as what you were and not what you are," Boryla said. "I learned that my life kept changing. And so I had to find where I fit into that change as it kept coming. The trends can come and go, but you have to find your style in that trend. For me, it was changing and rediscovering myself."
Boryla suffers from rheumatoid arthritis, but she doesn't let that keep her down, despite saying that the disease is "pretty nasty and debilitating."
