COLLEGE STATION, Texas — The "King of Country Music" has announced another stop on his tour and the show will be just a short drive from Houston.
George Strait will perform, along with Conroe native Parker McCollum and New Braunfels native Catie Offerman on June 15 at Kyle Field in College Station.
This will be the first ever concert held at Kyle Field.
Strait also said this will be the only show in Texas this year. Artist presale tickets go on sale at noon CT on Friday, March 22. Public sale tickets go on sale on Thursday, Mar 28 at 10 a.m. CT. Here's where you can sign up for early access.
Rumors of the “King of Country Music” had been swirling on social media, with posts from both Strait and McCollum a day before the announcement was official. McCollum posted a video to his Instagram account Monday, showing him playing the George Strait hit song, "Troubadour" with the message, "College Station, I told y’all it would all make sense. Tomorrow 9 AM."
Strait’s social media had a slightly more cryptic post on Monday, showing a bunch of social media posts calling for him to perform in Texas. The posts went away and showed the superstar with two thumbs up.
The Grammy-award winning Strait has a career that’s spanned more than 40 years, with 60 No. 1 singles. Strait, who is a native Texan, was a 2006 inductee into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
For Kyle Field, the concert will mark two major events there in just a week. One week before the George Strait show, international soccer will be on display there with Mexico taking on Brazil in an exhibition friendly.
