DENVER (AP) - Miss Colorado is getting attention for breaking with tradition at Sunday's Miss America tournament.
Kelley Johnson of Windsor is a 22-year-old nurse. For the talent portion of the competition, she performed a monologue about her work with a patient with Alzheimer's who reminded her of why she became a nurse. She was dressed in purple scrubs and sneakers rather than an evening gown.
Johnson finished as the second runner up at the 95th annual pageant in Atlantic City.
