KUSA – A&E's hit crime-drama Longmire is returning for season three. The country themed show is picking right up, where season two ended in its cliffhanger finale.
"At the end of season two there was an absolute storm. All kinds of crazy stuff was going on," actor Lou Diamond Phillips said. "It's a very tangled web and we literally pick up season three five minutes after season two ends."
Diamond Phillips stars as Henry Standing Bear, the best friend of town sheriff Walt Longmire. Henry Standing Bear starts this season on his way to jail for murder.
"Walt obviously has his hands full. He's running around trying to put out all these fires," Diamond Phillips said. "In the midst of it he still has to solve the crimes that happened in Absaroka County."
Fans of the novels shouldn't fear any spoilers in the TV series. The books and the series are separate entities in the Longmire universe.
"We're not just lifting the plotlines out of the books. Our characters continue to grow as we learn more about what happens to them in the novels," Diamond Phillips said. "Craig, he doesn't know where the writers are taking our storylines. Thank goodness, he's still pleased and incredibly excited and just as much a fan as anyone."
Longmire is back on A&E Monday nights.
