RELATED | Who's coming to Denver Comic Con in June?

9NEWS talked with Tara Hubner, marketing and communications manager for Pop Culture Classroom/Denver Comic Con, about the event.

Q: For those who aren’t familiar, what is Denver Comic Con?

A: Denver Comic Con is actually the largest consumer convention in Colorado. It’s a celebration of all things pop culture. They have some of the best comic book artists and writers in the business, but they also have authors like Terry Brooks and Jim Davis, the creator of Garfield. Davis is a rare treat—he normally doesn’t appear at cons.

And, of course, you can get the autograph of your favorite celebrities or get a picture with folks like Matt Smith and David Tennant from Doctor Who, Guardians of the Galaxy, Star Wars, Riverdale, and The Walking Dead actors.

There are even some stars from the 80s like Molly Ringwald and Andrew McCarthy. In the world of comics, we have names like Frank Miller, Kevin Eastman (original co-creator of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), Greg Capullo (Batman), a Milestone Comics 25th anniversary reunion, and DMC (of Run-DMC).

Q: What else is new at the con this year?

A: Denver Comic Con has always been a program of our local nonprofit Pop Culture Classroom. So it’s always been family-friendly and focused on education. This year we’ve expanded the Pop Culture Classroom Kids Laboratory so there will be even more activities for young kids and young adults. We also have more than 400 hours of programming—panel session where you can hear your favorite celebrity or artist talk about their craft or learn how to create your own pop culture media.

Q: Are tickets still available; where can people purchase tickets?

A: Three-day and single day tickets are still available, but they’re going fast—especially Saturday. You can purchase tickets at denvercomiccon.com.

They're using FlashSeats, so once you buy the tickets you’ll just need to show up with your driver’s license or the credit card you used. You can get your badges either the day of the con or during early badge pick up. That

Either way, people should be prepared for a line each morning. With tens of thousands of people expected it'll take some time to get everyone through and inside.
