DENVER – The former play-by-play radio broadcaster for the Colorado Rockies for 17 seasons released his first movie, "Table 47."
Jeff Kingery was a radio broadcaster for the Colorado Rockies from 1993 to 2009. Previously, he was a broadcaster for the Denver Nuggets from 1981 to 1992.
Kingery says he was looking for something to fill the creative void after retiring. His first film, "Table 47," started off as a short story he wrote and was adapted to a screen play by Michael Brody.
"Table 47" is a film noir-style thriller set in Colorado, featuring an all-Colorado cast and crew. The movie follows the owner of a restaurant and bar as he navigates a mysterious relationship.
Kingry says it is the story of a man who gets involved with the wrong woman and has to get himself out of a troublesome jam.
"There really is no black-and-white to any character. They are all just kind of shades of grey. I have always liked that. I have always liked the classic noirs," Kingery said.
Kingery says he is enjoying his retirement and likes having the time to pursue his film-making.
"Don't get me wrong, I really liked broadcasting the games. But, I always saw it was a great gig until it wasn't a great job anymore. After a while I think you get burnt out on the travel and everything that goes around that," Kingery said.
Kingery has other film-making projects in the works.
"Table 47" is now available on Amazon Prime and Google Play. It will be available on iTunes and VUDU on Oct. 20.
